Ashby Integration

Supercharge your hiring workflow by integrating AltHire AI directly with Ashby. As an official Assessment Partner, AltHire allows your team to launch AI-powered interviews and automated screening calls without ever leaving the Ashby platform.

This quick-start guide covers everything you need to know to get up and running:

1. Obtain an AltHire Account

To get started, email [email protected] with the following details:

  • Your company name
  •  Your Ashby account information

The AltHire team will:

  • Create an AltHire AI for your organization
  • Generate an AltHire API Key (you'll use this as a Basic Auth credential in Ashby)

This is a one-time setup process with a typical turnaround of 24 hours.


2. Connect AltHire AI in Your Ashby Account

Once you have your AltHire API Key, follow these steps to connect:

  1. Log in to your Ashby account.
  2. Go to Admin → Integrations.
  3. Find AltHire AI in the assessment partners list.
  4. Click Connect or Configure.
  5. Create a new Ashby API Key for AltHire.
    • Name it something like “AltHire AI API Key.”
  6. Copy this Ashby API Key and send it to [email protected].
  7. Enter the AltHire API Key (the one you received from AltHire) into the integration configuration modal.
  8. Click Save to activate the connection.

Important:
Two API keys are exchanged during setup:

  • One from Ashby (for AltHire to access your Ashby data)
  • One from AltHire (for Ashby to authenticate assessment requests)

Both are required for the integration to work.


3. Add AltHire AI Assessment to Your Interview Plan

Once the integration is active, you can add AltHire AI assessments to any job’s interview plan.

  1. Navigate to Jobs and select the job you want to configure.
  2. Go to the Interview Plan tab and click Edit.

  1. Add a new stage or click + Activity on an existing stage.

  1. Select Integrations → AltHire AI.

  1. Choose the assessment type:

AI Interviewer
A full AI-powered interview with in-depth evaluation.

AI Recruiter Screening
A shorter AI screening call is used for initial candidate filtering.

  1. Save the interview plan.

4. Starting an Assessment for a Candidate

There are two ways to start an AltHire assessment.

From the Interview Plan

When a candidate reaches the assessment stage in your pipeline, click Start to trigger the assessment.

From the Candidate Profile

  1. Go to the candidate’s profile.
  2. Click New Activity.
  3. Select Assessment → AltHire AI.
  4. Choose the assessment type.
  5. Click Start.

Once an assessment is started:

  • AltHire creates the interview automatically with AI-generated questions tailored to the role.

  • An invitation email is sent to the candidate.

  • The candidate completes the interview at their convenience.
  • AltHire updates the assessment status in Ashby in real time as the candidate progresses.

5. Viewing Results and Reports

Once the interview is completed, results appear directly in Ashby.

Overall Score (out of 10.0)
Displayed as the assessment result inside Ashby.

Interview Summary
A concise AI-generated summary shown in the assessment metadata.

Top Dimensional Scores
Key evaluation dimensions with scores and explanations.

Full Report Link
A link to the detailed AltHire TalentBoost report for a comprehensive evaluation breakdown.


6. Cancelling an Assessment

To cancel an in-progress assessment:

  1. Open the assessment activity in Ashby.
  2. Click Cancel.

AltHire will cancel the interview on its side and update the status in Ashby accordingly.
