Fountain Integration

AltHire generates a fully personalized, structured, and conversational video interview tailored to your specific job description and company context. From early-stage screening to role-specific skill evaluation, the platform conducts proctored AI interviews and delivers a clear overall score (out of 10) along with detailed competency insights, helping recruiters quickly and confidently review candidates.

Recruiters remain in complete control throughout the process. You can review and edit the interview script before it goes live, watch the full interview recording, read the transcript, analyze structured insights, and make the final hiring decision. AltHire is designed to augment recruiter judgment — not replace it.

AltHire integrates seamlessly with leading ATS platforms and continues to expand its integration ecosystem. Many teams already run AltHire directly within their ATS workflows. In this article, we’ll walk through how to connect AltHire with Fountain and run end-to-end AI interviews inside your hiring process.


Connecting Althire to Fountain

1. Obtain an AltHire Account

To enable the AltHire integration with Fountain, you will need the following credentials:

  • AltHire API Key
  • AltHire Account ID

To request these credentials, please email [email protected] with your company and Fountain account details.

Our team will get back to you within 24 hours to onboard you to AltHire AI. During onboarding, your account will be created, the API key and Account ID will be generated, and your Fountain account will be whitelisted to allow access.

**This is a one-time setup required to activate the integration.

2. Connect AltHire in Your Fountain Account

Once you have received your AltHire credentials, follow the steps below to connect AltHire AI in Fountain:

  1. Log in to your Fountain account.
  2. Click on your account profile in the top-right corner.
  3. Navigate to Integrations → Screening.
  4. Locate AltHire AI in the list of available partners.
  5. Click Connect (or Configure, if already connected).
  6. Enter your AltHire API Key and AltHire Account ID in the integration settings.
  7. Click Save Changes to activate the integration.

After saving, AltHire AI will be successfully connected to your Fountain account and ready to be used in your workflows.


Add Althire to the Workflow Editor

After you integrate with Althire on the Integrations page, you'll be able to add the Althire Partner Stage in the Workflow Editor of a Job.

  1. ​​Navigate to the Workflow Editor for the Job.
  2. Click Add Stage → Create a new stage.
  3. Select Althire Partner Stage as the stage type. You may give the Title as you see fit.

  1. Configure the Assessment to be sent to candidates under the Stage Option Type.

The AI-Interview Invitation stage will create an interview and email it to the candidate to complete at their convenience. The AI-Interview Pending stage is where it is waiting for the interview to be completed. This has been split into 2 stages to improve the candidate experience.

  1. Click on Save Changes to complete the integration process. 

Althire Partner Rule Stage

The AltHire AI integration with Fountain uses two workflow stages to ensure reliable automation and a clear candidate experience.

Stage 1: AltHire AI – Interview Invitation (Partner Stage)

This is the AltHire partner stage, where the interview is created, and the interview invitation is sent to the candidate. Interview creation and invitation delivery are asynchronous and may take up to 1–2 minutes to complete.

A rule is configured on this stage to automatically move the candidate forward once AltHire begins processing the interview request. Use the below for your system.

Stage 2: AI-Interview Pending (Custom Stage)

This is a custom stage where the candidate waits to complete the interview at their convenience. During this stage, AltHire AI continues to update the candidate’s interview status - progress, error, completed, or expired.

This stage provides:

  • A stable, non-loading candidate view
  • Clear instructions for completing the interview
  • Ongoing status updates back to Fountain


Currenlty Althire provides an overall score (out of 100) to make decisions of approve, reject, or move to the next stage, etc. This score is populated once the candidate completes the interview.

Additionally, you can see the report by clicking the report link. This report link is password-protected, which you can configure in Althire to protect.

Fountain × AltHire: Status Labels and Descriptions

As candidates progress through the AltHire stage in Fountain, AltHire automatically updates the Partner Status based on interview activity. Below is the mapping of AltHire interview statuses to Fountain partner statuses:

  1. Invitation In Progress → Not Invited
    The interview setup is in progress, and the invitation has not yet been sent to the candidate.
  2. Interview Pending → Pending (Interview Not Taken Yet)
    The interview invitation has been sent, but the candidate has not started the interview.
  3. Interview In Progress → Pending (Interview In Progress)
    The candidate has started and is currently completing the interview.
  4. Interview Completed → Interview Completed
    The candidate has successfully completed the interview, and the evaluation report has been generated.
  5. Interview Expired → Pending (Expired)
    The interview link has expired. The candidate must contact the recruiter to receive a new invitation link.
